Welcome to Oxford!
First Day at Oxford
Hello from across the pond! After seemingly endless flight delays and getting no sleep on the plane, I have finally arrived at Oxford. While it was tempting to just fall asleep in my hotel immediately upon arrival, I opted for a latte and a walk around the central area where I will be staying.
Why Oxford? Well, that is a long story that goes all the way back to the reason why I started Abigail J Studio in the first place. That requires a whole post devoted just to that for a full explanation, but the main reason why I am here is graduate study. Specifically, I am attending a Publishing & Editing intensive course held here at Oxford that is coordinated by Columbia University. This is a career 180 for me, since I was a Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology and Philosophy double major at Emory University, and then I started a Ph.D. program in Nutrition Intervention and Policy right after graduation from college. And now I'm an artist! What can I say? I like to dabble! If you see a job posting for "Renaissance Woman," let me know.
Instead of staying put in NYC to take the course over the summer, I opted for the fall abroad option because who doesn't want an excuse to do a bit of traveling! You can feel that first hint of fall in the air and it is simply divine! The leaves have even started to change just a tad, but the roses are still going strong.
Even though I am missing New York in the fall, I have a feeling it will be just as beautiful here. I can't wait to show you more around the area and all of the cities I am exploring next month!
Do you have any recommendations for things to do around Oxford? Let me know!
